Best Marriott Hotels
for World Cup 2026
in New York

I stayed at the New York Marriott Marquis during a conference — 43rd floor, Midtown spread in every direction, Broadway Lounge at midnight with Times Square below. It earns its reputation. For World Cup 2026, that reputation gets stress-tested. The Final is July 19 at MetLife Stadium, just across the Hudson. New York will be the most in-demand hotel market of the entire tournament. Here's exactly what to book.

Why New York Is the #1 Priority

New York hosts multiple matches including the World Cup Final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium — 25 minutes via NJ Transit from Penn Station. Hotel inventory will hit Super Bowl-level demand during Final week. Three countries, 16 host cities, the longest World Cup in history — New York is the endpoint. Demand here isn't just domestic, it's global. Book now.

Final week availability is already tightening

July 14–19 will be the most expensive hotel week New York has seen in years. Points redemptions go before cash rates. Book a refundable rate now and optimize later.

The Hotels — Ranked

Times Square with Marriott Marquis sign, New York City

🥇 Best Overall

New York Marriott Marquis — Times Square

Personal Stay

I stayed here and can vouch for it directly. 43rd floor views are genuinely impressive — Midtown spread out in every direction. The Broadway Lounge is worth it for the Times Square sightline alone, especially at midnight. For World Cup: Times Square puts you 10 minutes on foot from Penn Station, your gateway to MetLife. The property handles large international crowds well, and it shows.

Category 7 — expect 60,000–85,000 pts/night. Cash rates $500–$900+ for Final week. Book the room category you want now; upgrade availability during the Final will be near zero.

🥈 Best for MetLife Access — Sleeper Pick

Sheraton Lincoln Harbor, Weehawken NJ

The one most people miss. Cross-river location with ferry access to Midtown Manhattan. Significantly cheaper than Manhattan properties during match weeks, and strategically closer to MetLife Stadium. For fans who want to avoid Penn Station crowds on the way back — this is the smart move. The views across the Hudson toward Manhattan are legitimately great.

🥉 Best Atmosphere

W New York — Union Square

International crowd, central subway access, W energy. Union Square gives you one of the best bases in the city — walkable to everything south of Midtown, excellent transit connections. During a World Cup, the lobby energy will be exactly what you want. Go for the vibe and the location.

💰 Best Points Value

Courtyard Manhattan/Midtown East

Category 5 — best points-to-location ratio in Manhattan for this tournament. No frills, great transit access, reliable execution. If you're burning points and want a solid Midtown base without the Category 7 ceiling of the Marquis, this is where I'd redeem.

"If you want to be in the middle of it all with easy access to subways and walkable restaurants — the Marquis is it. I've stayed there. I'd stay again."

Trip Tips

🚆

Getting to MetLife

NJ Transit from Penn Station: ~25 min on match days. Buy tickets in advance — the game-day queue at Penn Station is serious. Skip Uber on match day.
